Tuesday 20th March was the Iranian New Year.
There are a couple of Iranian ladies in the office (Natasha and Sara) and we were invited to Natasha’s flat for food and drinks to mark the occasion. There were all sorts of dishes, the names unknown to me…and it was a nice opportunity to speak with colleagues….
As many of them trickled off home (remember this is a school night!) a few of us occupied our selves with plastic cups and ping pong balls!!! It was our own version of basket ball!!!
Natasha then educated us in what we were going to see at “the Iranian Nightclub”.
No one except Natasha and Jamie (her boyfriend) had ever been to a n Iranian nightclub before, but the description of the types of people likely to be in there, was intriguing.
“Javads”………………………………to many of us this would later translate into Barry Boy/Boy Racer/or as Dave calls them Chavs! Basically these guys don’t do their shirts right up, wear gold medallions like mill stones round their necks and drive cars with hand writing on the back saying, God loves me or, my mother loves me…….Oh Wow they are so cool! While spinning their car keys around their finger!!!
Anyway after this description we bundled into a car (we have now beaten the record….) ALL 7 of us!!! And set off for the club!
OMG we ended up in deepest darkest Deira! So busy even at 11 o clock at night! We didn’t really have a clue where the club was but after some dodgey directions we found it…..
As soon as we arrived…..we could spot the Javads! Hahahaha we grabbed a table and ordered some drinks…..WOW how much fun can you have with tonic water and UV light!!!! CJD demonstrated just how much!!!!!
Unfortunately just going straight out from work many of us had white shirts on, so we glowed like snap lights!
We were entertained by live singers……singing to tunes that were familiar but in Farsi….while CJD, Helena and Natasha shook their stuff on the dance floor!
We decided that at midnight we best make a move….and proceeded to hunt for the car park……eventually found the car and managed to direct Ed back to the apartments. The guys were tired and not really impressed with our navigational skills…..i think we will get taxis next time…..
HOW hard was the next day at work!!!! Sara, had gone to her family for new year and stayed up till 5am……..she must have felt worse than us!!! Tired tired tired…..
